Wilderness Spirit Newsletter

'Survivorman' Premiers on OLN!.....'Extraordinary Lives' Features the life and work of Les Stroud.....'Stranded' completed as one hour special.....'True Stories' series features Stroud....Plus 3 feature magazine articles.....

It has been so long since we last put out a newsletter that we must keep this one brief or it will take all day to read.....here's the scoop starting with the most recent:

Wilderness Spirit Productions Inc. teamed up with talented producer David Brady to form Survivorman Productions Inc. and is now producing a 9 part series entitled 'Survivorman' (9 X one hour) for the Outdoor Life Network Canada, Science Channel US and Discovery Channel throughout most of the world. It is the metamorphosis of the original Discovery Channel Canada series we produced which became a one hour special called 'Stranded'. Basically, Wilderness Spirit executive producer Les Stroud is sent to different ecosystems throughout North and Central America and left alone to survive for 7 days with his cameras, but without food or equipment - and NO TV crew! Where? Costa Rica (jungle), Arizona (desert), Georgia (swamp), Ontario (boreal forest winter and summer), Utah Canyonlands, BC (mountains), Baffin Island (arctic) AND - 7 days lost at sea!!! ...that's where! The first four are airing now and the response is becoming unreal - constant emails from viewers with strong comments like: 'best show on TV"...."best show on network".... "can't wait for next episode"...and Survivorman is now the topic of 3 forums and counting....Don't miss it - on OLN - various times - various days.

Also airing this year was the 'Extraordinary Lives' show about Les' life and time in the bush with his wife Sue (featuring his film 'Snowshoes and Solitude'). It aired on the Life Network in November '04 and has been on again several times.

The History Channel's new series 'Manhunt' interviewed Les as the survival pro for a show about the Mad trapper of Rat River and as mentioned in our last newsletter Les was also the onscreen expert for a show about Robinson Crusoe. That show, which is part of the 'True Stories' series, is now finished and has aired on the Discovery Channel US.

Explore (August '04), Muskoka (Sept. '04) and Above and Beyond (Sept '04) magazines have all recently done feature articles on the life and work of Stroud.

Since our last newsletter Wilderness Spirit also produced the multi media 3 screen video production for the world famous Deerhurst Resort stage show....to rave reviews .....during the 2002/2003 show seasons.

One another note: Les Stroud should soon be putting out another music CD as well as a Survivorman book

All for now......have a great winter!
